Post-Thanksgiving Post

Filed in Everwhatever

Having had a couple days to think about it, I think I wanna do organize my list of beauties around the underrated theme. That is, there are certain names that are almost guaranteed to come up in a discussion of all-time beautiful Black women. We all know who they are, and my goal is to kinda stay away from them. Now some of the ladies here might already be on your personal favorites list, but if I have em listed here, that means I don’t think they get as much acclaim as they deserve.

So here we are:

Jill Marie Jones

Nona Gaye

Denise Nicholas

Helen Folasade Adu

N’Bushe Wright

That’s for starters. We’ll keep this up sporadically.

I’m not big on lists, but I’m wondering if this particular one would be better characterized as ‘The Prettiest Black Women To Me‘ — or something like that. After all, it’s not like any of us know Sade personally to say with any reliability whether she’s beautiful.

Jill Marie Jones, though? Cough. Choke. Gasp.

I bet I can spot the regulars here 10 women each and come up with 10 honeys of my own who a consensus will dig on.

i definitely feel you on making sure the label is subjective. i guess this is one of those times when i should make my intentions a little more explicit.

man, i’d run across the beltway at rush hour to see JMJ.

I got a thing for Toni Braxton and Wendy Rachel Robinson.

Wendy Racquel Robinson – the principal from the Steve Harvey show? She’s definitely gonna be on the next iteration. Toni Braxton would’ve been winning, but that bionic job kinda messed it up for me.

  5. Leaving both Nona Gaye and Sade Adu off my list was a major, major gaffe.
    Thanks Ave.

I really like your list because there is a balance in the beauties. What I mean is that, it was the typical light skinned woman only but darker shade sister who normally go unnoticed like Nnbushe Wright whom I think is a very attractive woman. Thank you very much for showing love to all sisters. It is very painful to play second fiddle simply because you don’t have white blood in your features and this is done a lot by media and even our own so thank you.
