Wild card weekend, and the operative word is ‘wild.’ Of course we’re gonna start with the last game. The Eagles, who mathematically shouldn’t even be in the playoffs, have advanced to the Divisional round against the Giants. We are now at the ‘anything can happen’ stage of the season. All the Eagles need is to get hot for the next three games. One at a time, though.
And yeah, BB’s Chargers, like the Eagles, are fully resurrected and seem to be playing to their capabilities. Now what they’re gonna do against the Steelers is a tough question to answer. Indy got D, but they ain’t got D like PGH. The key here is Ben. If Ben plays well and allows the Stillers D to stay off the field for a while, they should win. Young Sproles is nasty, but he’s in for a pretty decent challenge.
Ravens look like a tough out. I’m callin it here: I like the Ravens to win next week in Tennessee. Maybe the Tennessee defense gets to Flacco and makes a believer out of me, but if I hafta go with a D I can trust, it’s gonna be Balto.
Carolina’s the scariest team in the NFC to me. They have a stingy defense, two good running backs, and a solid possession receiver to go along with their home run guy. Because of their aerial assault, the Cardinals have a puncher’s chance, but I wouldn’t put too much on their chances.
UPDATE And to get it started, here’s Brotherbrown’s comments following last night’s game
I know you Norv haters are hating him even more now, but with another playoff win, he’s earned some more goodwill in SuperChargerNation. Pittsburgh, like Indy, represents another rematch from the regular season, where the steelers won 11-10.
Question: Last year, the Chargers lost Michael Turner to free agency, this year, Darren Sproles is a free agent. What should the Chargers do?
They better keep that dude.
Oh yeah. I dig Pam Oliver and all, but babygirl gotta do somethin about that weave. Any time your weave look like a weave from every direction…that joint is not what’s hot.

At a Spades party last night, I told people at the start of the game that the Chargers were the one team that had a good chance of beating the red-hot Colts. With the Colts out of the picture, the Ravens chances look better. They still have to go through the Steelers, but it looks better.
The Ravens won in the way they had to win: defense. But, again I state, any well coached team should say, “Stay close to them until about 9 minutes in the 3rd quarter, and we will win because we’ll go no-huddle and pick the D apart.” The Ravens D play allowed Flacco to relax. He’s still a rook.
The Eagles? They are out the next game.
re: the Igs, logically you’re right, but if i was a bettin man, i wouldn’t lay 10 cents in either direction on this team. you never know WHAT you’re gonna get. you might get any of the following combinations:
+O, -D
-O, +D
or
+O, +D.
Either of the first two against the Giants should be a loss. The 3rd is a probable win. We haven’t really seen the team totally tank, except against the Ravens. That was like an aberration you can throw out. So while I obviously wouldn’t venture to call the game, I like their chances. Plus the fact that it’s a division opponent, they should be able to make it interesting.
Oh, and on Pam Oliver….
She’s older, a “little” more of her to look at, and it looks like life is not treating her too well.
Maybe it’s just the weave.
The Iggies can definitely beat the G-men in a rubber match at the Meadowlands. Show some faith, Av.
The Ravens-Titans match will be very interesting to find out which team’s offense is more effective at moving the ball. Baltimore’s defense is as awesome as it gets, but the Titans aren’t the #1 seed in the AFC by accident. They hit on both sides of the ball and they’re very disciplined. Tennessee has a decided edge in coaching experience… on every team in the conference.
Pfft… so the Sun shined on a dog’s ass Saturday night and a team coached by Norvil the Awful won a playoff game. Don’t get the vapors, BroBrown. The Chargers are going to get jacked for their glass slippers and pumpkin hooptie this weekend.
Pam Oliver? H-u-r-r-r-r-r-l-l-l-l-l-l-l!
The surprise of the weekend had to be the grit shown by the Cards. Everybody knows they can pass the ball. But their offense manned up against the Falcons. The clock will strike 12 for Arizona against the Panthers who, IMO, are the best NFC team right now.
… as usual these opinions aren’t those of the management. Your mileage may vary. See your doctor for details.
Stillers-Bolts, eh? W/ Tomlinson back in the equation. Hats off to your Iggles.
Pam O- no excuse for folk w/ that kinda access to top stylists, to be half-steppin’.
i really like the eagles’ chances, but i’ve been with this team too long to get totally gassed up. i know they’re capable of ANY kind of showing. if they don’t turn the ball over, i like them to win. or even if they can keep the turnovers to just turnovers and not scoring opportunities. they gotta put points on the board and get stops, though. one or the other alone ain’t gon get it done.
Okay, just so that you know, Pam Oliver is FAMU Class of 84 (brotherbrown is class of 82.) I first saw that woman when she was a nubile 18 year old girl wearing terry cloth shorts
so I gotta soft spot in my heart for her.
The Chargers’ biggest problem is the injury bug. They were still in their funk when they played the steelers in the fall, and they are on a payback roll right now, having gotten the broncos and the colts the last two weeks. Pittsburgh might want a tune up before they get the chargers again. Baltimore is at the end of its road. Yes, they have some defense, but Chad Pennington won’t be leading any team to the promised land with that candy arm. Tennessee has a lot more than the Dolphins whose recievers are soft, and in the words of Tina Turner, they like it RUFF!
weave? what weave?
see, bb, i wasn’t gonna take it there, but that’s EXACTLY why i ride hard for pam oliver. i seent that joint, i was like…WHOA. all’a that notwithstanding, i just wish she’d stop by the beautician once a week or some’n like that. my play sisters been talkin about her for years, but i kept denyin. sunday, i’ze like…that’s just unacceptable. if she was the random jawn who lucked up on tv that week, it would be one thing, but that’s her gig. she gotta tighten it up.
class of 84? black really don’t crack!
Re: Pam’s ‘do, I hear ya. Pam has a FAUX HEAD, however there are plenty of cuts that would flatter her. But you know, Rupert Murdoch likes em blonde and long haired, so you know a black woman has to at least wear long hair, We should be happy she doesn’t have to wear yellow hair.
Pam’s had staying power. It helped her that she came up with FOX Sports right when they first got NFL football, and it helped FOX that the Cowboys got hot in that era, too. The connection there is Big Nate Newton, who was a freshman with Pam in 80. I think she got in with America’s Team, and even today, she’s on Fox’s #1 Team with Aikman.
Since the ‘Boys have self-destructed and I’m done finding the humor in my hometown Lions, I’ll defer the rest of this season’s NFL talk for people who actually care about what’s gonna happen. But I will at least chime in about the decline of Pammy O. Then again, I was never on the wagon for her anyway…so I guess you can add that to the topics about which I’ll stay voiceless. Give me Lisa Salters or Sage Steele any day of the week.
Son! Lisa Salters is kinda cute.
Ahem.
RAVENS!!!!!!
I return you to your admiration of some wimmins.
Tennessee derserved to lose. I have never been impressed with Kerry Collins, Alge Crumpler or LenDale White, and they collectively did the Titans in.
