The dream is alive.

And after all that…after the boycotts and the benching and the untimely losses and attempts to sabotage their own season, the Eagles have made the playoffs again. Making it sweeter is that it was at the expense of the Cowboys. Man, I cannot tell you how much better that makes it. It’s like a crazy multiplier bonus. Beating the Cowboys would’ve been sweet no matter what. But beating the Cowboys in a winner-takes-all game to make the playoffs? That’s hard to beat. Only thing better would be beating them in the NFC Championship game. But that ain’t gon happen. They’re gonna be on vacation.

Stillers took out the Brownies, but I’m hoping that Ben’s okay. Even if he’s not, their backup could probably be starting for about 1/2 of the teams in the League. He played well against the R*s, one of the better defenses, so they should be okay. They need to get Tomlin a playoff win, though.

Pennington > Favre.

McNabb > Romo. Again.

I wish we had gotten the feed for the game. Not just to see the Eagles thrash the Cowboys, but to see the cutaways to Jerry Jones’ face. And Wade Phillips. And Terrell Owens. This is exactly the game I wanted to see, only I was hoping Owens would’ve kirked off and slapped sombody. Other than that, this is the stuff of dreams.

Should the Eagles pull off the upset next week, they’d travel to the Giants. But we’re in the 2nd season now. Anything can happen.

Pennington has to be loving it. I told people Farve should have kept his butt in retirement.

I can’t wait to see T.O. explode. He can catch a ball but is no good for the locker room. And Romo, …. It MUST BE ASKED, is he a big game baller?

  2. #2 Avery says:

it must be answered: NO!. (not yet, at least.)

the sensation i feel right now is the reason i watch this game. i don’t know what they gon’ do next week, but this was a de facto playoff game, and they came out destroying. after last week, they were on borrowed time. anything after this is bonus.

I don’t know if you’ll have the time or wherewithal to give it a go but, for sheer comedy, you should check into the Cowboys’ flagship station tomorrow morning at http://www.theticket.com. It really gets good at about, say, 9:40 a.m. eastern time.

There’s nothing better than listening to frustrated Cowboys fans. And it’s only better when they lose the way they lost. Which is to say they completely imploded.

Gon’ be fun to see Jerry Jones blow up the ‘boys before they move to their new digs in Arlington. R’s have about as much pride as an anorexic. I was just telling a huge Stiller fan they should have given Leftwich some reps during their rout by the Titans. Bolts look to be peaking.

Week seventeen was about as close to a perfect weekend of regular season pro football as I have ever had. All the games except Buffalo and Detroit broke the way I wanted them to break, capped off, of course, with the superchargers whipping that bronco ass. That Hoculi-bowl fiasco created a karmic disruption that impacted the Bolts all season, but in the playoffs, hopes spring eternal. Norv has proven he can win in the playoffs and the Bolts “can” beat all the teams they might face in the AFC bracket. I think he saved his job, and if he wins in the playoffs, he builds his credibility as head coach going into next season (but we need to see at least 12 wins next year.) I just hope LT is okay.

bb, it was a very good way to end the nfl regular season!

  7. #7 MIB says:

Just when I thought Brobrown was out, Norvil the Awful pulled him back in. He’s a sorcerer, that Turner.

He don’t love you… like I love you
If he did he wouldn’t break your heart…

  8. #8 DarkStar says:

MIB makes a good point. Norv is a good offensive play caller, but coach? NOT!!!

  9. #9 brotherbrown says:

After successive playoff one-and-dones with martyball, Norv was an upgrade I would have taken every time. I understand the hesitancy about Norv, especially from Redskin fans, but it feels good to taste the playoffs.

Let me say as well that the Chargers really miss Shawne Merriman. He is the sort of difference maker that shifts a team from a bottom five to a top five defense. If the Chargers have a problem this year, it’s a lack of QB pressure, which is the only way to have a chance against top QBs.

  11. #11 Avery says:

bb, i was pullin for your boys yesterday. i don’t know what to expect with them. they’re wild. anything can happen. interesting draw against the Colts. that’s gonna shape up to be some kinda game.

what does it take for guys like shanahan and chucky to get fired, that’s what i wanna know.

  12. #12 brotherbrown says:

Winning the Big One, and Shanahan has done it twice, buys you a lot of credibility. On the other hand, Billick was finally kicked to the curb. I’m expecting Marvin Lewis and Herm Edwards to go, by the way. Possibly Jack Del Rio.

  13. #13 Avery says:

well, now that dungy has his ring, it’s kind of a moot point, but everybody knows that was dungy’s ring in tampa. notice they haven’t really done jack since. and with shannahan, have they won a playoff game since that one guy…what was his name? the quarterback? ummmm…redman mentioned him in a song….

but that’s the crazy thing: say the impossible happens and the igs win the bowl. that pretty much means andy reid and his mostly-insane play calling would be venerated. and that, on its face, is absurd.

  14. #14 Charles Follymacher says:

I’m sick, just sick. I snuck off that Romo bandwagon earlier this season (he is NOT a big game qb. period.) and now I understand what people were talking about before re Wade. Absolutely sickening season for the boys. Stomach punch after stomach punch after stomach punch.

I’m still ridin with them, but umma find a mask.

  15. #15 Avery says:

son, i was kinda waitin on you. your boys…that was a travesty. like, that was how i had wished that game would play out, but i never imagined that it would really happen like that.

if he don’t get some good coaching soon, romo’s gon be a coulda-been.

TO might not have been happy @ the ravens, but the thought of him on that squad with a ray lewis to keep him in check is scary. jokers kill me talkin about him like he’s part of the thug element in the league. he might be a lotta things, but thug is not one of them. baller, however, is.

  16. #16 brotherbrown says:

    Re: Shanahan, nevermind. :D

  17. #17 Charles Follymacher says:

your coach is pretty good with QBs and Romo is in the mold of original favre. not sure if anyone can get to him tho. not sure if he hates losin enough to wanna learn how to manage a game right.

    almost feel sorry for TO.

  18. #18 Avery says:

    almost feel sorry for TO?

    BWAHAHAHA!!

Nah, yo. That dude brought it on himself. I said back in the day that he had played with the best QB he was ever gonna have. Earlier this year, I think he himself alluded to the possibility that they could’ve had some magical seasons together. But nah. Nahmeen, while I’m all for a player gettin his money, there’s a way to do it and a way to not-do it. If you remember, Hines Ward was having contract problems at the same time TO was. Hines held out at least part of the pre-season, came back, played well and before the season was out, had his new contract. YOUR boy played drama queen, got kicked outta town, and went to the arch-rivals. Since then, he ain’t smelt whiff of playoff success. Meanwhile, the Igs, while not making the playoffs twice, have won at least one game when they went. Naw, i don’t feel sorry for that bamma.

  19. #19 DarkStar says:

I’m just very happy that TO totally dissed the Ravens.

  20. #20 Avery says:

yeah. especially considering that the ravens haven’t exactly had top-flight quarterbacks over the last 4 years. money would’ve acted a fool. he’s bad enough when he’s got a pro-bowl caliber qb. imagine him in there with kyle boller.

  21. #21 Charles Follymacher says:

heh! ok, easy, i said, “almost.” but you gotta admit you’re surprised at how he’s handled the cowboys decline the last few weeks. we would’ve expected much worse.

oh now you got me “defending” the man who dissed our star a few years back.

  22. #22 Avery says:

oh, no doubt. that’s actually the only thing i wanted in sunday’s game that i didn’t get. but all things considered, i’m cool with the way things turned out.

    lol.

yo, did you know that for only 1/2 a mil ticket, you can have THE endzone from texas stadium? well, somebody might’ve bought it by now, but i saw it in a catalog last year.

  23. #23 brotherbrown says:

Didn’t McNair give them a 13 win season recently?

  24. #24 Charles Follymacher says:

the whole endzone, or a piece of it. call me a dork, but if i had the coin, i’d pay it. i’d also have to pay a gardner to water that patch, too cuz i’m a mr. brownthumbs. :D

  25. #25 Avery says:

the whole joint. and you don’t even hafta garden. it’s artificial turf!!

  26. #26 Avery says:

bb, mcnair was there, but he was basically a shell of himself. he was kinda like brett favre this year. they made it to the divisional round of the playoffs, where they got bumped off by the pats, i think. either the pats or the colts. that’s pretty much as far as they were gonna go anyway.

  27. #27 brotherbrown says:

I know you Norv haters are hating him even more now, but with another playoff win, he’s earned some more goodwill in SuperChargerNation. Pittsburgh, like Indy, represents another rematch from the regular season, where the steelers won 11-10.

Question: Last year, the Chargers lost Michael Turner to free agency, this year, Darren Sproles is a free agent. What should the Chargers do?

  28. #28 Kreis says:

That was a good reading and informative. You obviously know your stuff!
