Because I’m at work, I can’t really see what the comments are regarding Curtis Jackson’s endorsement of Hilary Clinton, which was featured as the quote of the day at Booker, but I can imagine. What’s intriguing to me is the part about Obama being killed if he is elected. Even for all the talk of Obama’s electability and the progress that represents, there’s no question in my mind that he would be the single most endangered man in the world. Fiddy may not say it in formal English, but his idea ain’t exactly off.
Thinking about it in a slightly different context, I have a friend who doesn’t want Obama to win this time around. Given the state that she sees the country to be in, her preference would be for Hilary to win the presidency and take the blame for not being able to fix the problems caused by the current administration. THEN she’d like to see Obama take office and actually be able to do something constructive.
In a way, this kinda brings us back to the whole issue of Obama being the first Black president - or even for Hilary to be the first woman president … if one of them messes up royally — or even they’re just at Bush II levels…then what? Does that set us back, or does that have any real significance? As I’m wont to say, equality is not only measured by the best-qualified, it’s also measured by the mean. An equal sign has both a high and a low bar. It’s kinda like watchin coaches in the NFL. Yeah it’s nice to have Black coaches as some of the most respected coaches in the game, both for their X’s and O’s and their off-field demeanor, but the day I’m really waiting for is when a Black coach could put up a Rich Kotite-type performance and STILL get another job. All that to say that I’m wonderin what the consequences would be if Obama were to win and fail. Or if he were to win and get shot.
Might wanna take heed to 50 on this one. He knows somethin about gettin shot.
