NFL Week 3
By Avery | September 23, 2007

Now this is more like it. I knew Donovan was due for a breakout game, but this was outta control. Now it’s easy to temper my enthusiasm because it was against the Lions, but still. They were 2-0 coming into the game, so it’s not exactly like they were pushovers. Not the offense, at least. The defense? Sheesh.
Now here’s the thing: I’ve been an Eagles fan too long to think everything’s gonna be all good from here. But this could’ve been the turning point. Maybe all that bad-playing McNabb was doing had to do with his knee brace and all that. I guess we’ll see next week.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are still undefeated. They’re back to having Ben manage the game while relying on the running game, but I’m sure that when they need to, they’ll open it up. The only question I have about the Steelers is what could they do against Randy Moss? Cuz somebody’s gonna hafta stop him, or else, the Pats are gonna romp to the Super Bowl. 38 points a week? Are you kiddin me?

Seems McNabb plays better with a big fat chip on his shoulder. An, yeah Moss playin hard for a good team seems almost unfair.

It comes down to the Pats and Colts for the division championship.

So long as the Iggles, er, stash those uni’s for good. Honestly!

Those may be the only things I’ve seen that are worse than my Broncs’ (God rest their souls…) vertically-striped socks of yesteryear. The uniforms were about the only thing that could have made McNabb’s game look ugly yesterday.

Re: Uni’s, it’s unanimous, nobody likes them.
Norv Turner, we are about to break out the hourglass to measure how much time you have left if you can’t figure out how to get he ball in the hands of LaDainian Tomlimson, you know, number 21 on your team, at least 30 times a game. You have to let your o-line whip up on the other d-line for 4 quarters, and LT will bust one. And he can even catch pitches and attack the corner.
I read a theory about Moss a few years ago that seems to be true; he has a tendency to show up a qb or coach if he is black, and is a lot more deferential to a qb or coach who is white. That the Raiders got so little for Moss proves Al Davis has slipped. He let Moss go for nothing, and Moss has moved into a situation where his behavior being true to form, he could have a strong year.
Do not count out Tennessee.

You guys are nuts, it’s the uniforms that got Philly those 56 points, by striking the Lions blind. The uniforms rock, and if they wore them for the rest of the season they’d lock their division. At the Super Bowl Donovan would be on the benches chillin, sitting out the second half after putting 50 points on the board in the first. They needs them uniforms.
Mark my words, if they’re back in green in the next game, they’re going to get wooped.
Philly has got some tough games coming up, Chicago in week seven, and Dallas in week 9 and 15. Maybe they can win Chicago if Rex Grossman is playing, but I don’t give them much hope against Dallas, or New England in week 12.
The Bears defense at least looked pretty good in the first half against the Cowboys, but by the second half the Dallas offensive line had worn them down and had figured out a way to beat them. Chicago needed to score at least 21 points to have a chance of staying with Dallas but Grossman couldn’t even do that. Romo is hot, as is the offensive line, and if they keep playing like this they’re headed for the NFC championship.
New England still looks like the team to beat in the AFC East, and they’ll be getting their only real tests from Dallas in week 6, Indianapolis in week 9, and Pittsburgh in week 14, otherwise their schedule is a walk. It’s a nice break when you have the best team in your division and you get to play a bunch of soft teams and save your players for the playoffs.
Pittsburgh has a lot of games with teams that are, shall we say substandard, in the AFC North as well, they should be looking good by the time they meet New England.
Vince Young looked good tonight, but so far I’m already bored with this football season.

Yeah BB, unfortunately I don’t have NFL Sunday ticket DirecTV, so I like most people don’t get to watch the games we want to watch.
Christ with cable, everybody should be able to watch any NFL game they want these days, it’s simply un-American to make people pay to watch football on TV. Shoot, if I could watch every game, I’d have a chair completely surrounded with TV sets, so I could watch them all at once.
I want my football damn it! And I want it all!

I use it as an excuse to go to Hooters.
