I'm not defending, but I can almost buy the fact of the unenlightened perspective, and can picture the sweat on the forehead of this pastor, thinking "I had no idea that celebrating the Lord with blackface would be met with such opposition. I'm a good man. A white man, but a good man." I think the guy just has a seriously myopic view of the world around him, quite possibly due to the backwardness of his peers. Man, that sounds really lousy, doesn't it?
