p.s. seriously, what about Chris Rock's idea about a tax on bullets. If you put a $100/bullet tax out there, not only does that cut down the rounds avail to the avg joe (or cho, as it were), that def significantly raises the cost of bullets on the black market as well. gangstas would be faaar more discrimminate about who is actually worth shootin ----> far fewer deaths?

Real sorry to hear about your experience, Avery. That's a real waste of a real life, of real blood and guts potential. I have to admit I have a hard time understanding how Capital C Christians can justify owning a gun. I believe the very hardest part about being a Christian isn't about beliving in the Godhood of a man who lived a couple thousand years ago. The very hardest part is accepting the whole Forgiveness and Vengence-Is-Mines bits.

Those are some counter-intuitive principles. I mean, I can perfectly understand a 'slip' and you punch someone who took a swing at you first. But to go out and buy a weapon whose purpose is to maim/kill from a distance? It's a very conscious act, buying a gun. You have to shell out good money, get a licence, etc.

I don't care if you want to "protect your family." If you believe in God and Jesus' example, you leave retribution to him. Period. There is no more to it, hard as it is to swallow. Hell.

Take an anything-is-a-weapon krav maga class, but no Christian, who is a true believer can say shooting some killer -- even to save his mother/daughter/wife -- is a Christian act.

imho ;-) Shit, I'm really becoming a peacnik in my old age.
