Comin’ Up Soon

My classes are about to start reading Romeo and Juliet. Anybody know of any good re-tellings of that story? I’m especially looking for more contemporary books.

Hmm, can’t say that I have heard of any attempts to modernize R&J in print…but then again I haven’t heard everything

Having the class view DiCaprio’s (groan) R&J actually might be a good thing…no, no, hear me out! It retains the beauty of the language, but puts it squarely into a modern context. It worked well for me, anyway. If you can handle DiCaprio…

actually, right after i posted this, i came up on Street Love by Walter Dean Myers. It’s not an exact replication, but it’s pretty good and has some of the same themes. i highly recommend it.
