    Whoa!!

    By Avery | January 28, 2007

Technology provides us with some tremendous opportunities, but I’m tellin’ you…some things just cannot be foreseen.  Like a sperm donor who pays child support.

Maybe one time when I’m feeling philosophical, I might go a round or two with this, but for right now, I’m just stunned.  After reading the article, I’m not quite as shocked as I was when I saw the headline, but still.

What part of the game is that?

      Check this out:

Harris has retained custody of the girls, while Wilfors entitled to ask for visitation.

Aaron, I hear what you’re saying, and really, this case is a little different because the donor actually did know the recipient, but the whole concept of parental responsibility for non-coital conception is baffling to me. I guess it makes me wonder whether a blind donor could eventually be held responsible. I’m sure there are lots of other elements, but is this case setting a precedent?

If that was for me, it’s Ed, not Aaron.

But if they mandate that he has to pay to support the child, why not state, up front, he gets visitation rights?

I never liked the idea of sperm donors. I know this is “cruel” but it seems no different than a man doing the do and then leaving the woman to be on her own.

naw, Aaron had commented, but I accidentally erased the comment. (when spam killing goes wrong)

anyway, in prearranged setups like this, the whole idea of sperm donorship is weird to me. it’s like, she wants to have a baby by him, but she doesn’t wanna have his baby. or something like that. They’re clearly working against Dangerfield’s Rule (the best part of having kids is makin’ em).
